Full Job Description

Gateley PLC are looking to recruit for an experience Test Manager to join our thriving solution delivery team.

The purpose of the role is to provide test analysis and design and execution for Technology and business change projects. The Test Manager will have a particular focus on delivery of strategic projects and programmes. In addition, the role holder will provide support to the wider Solution Delivery team in respect of testing best practice, process, and execution.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Definition of the Gateley test strategy, policies, and objectives. Staying abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to testing in a Professional Services domain and quality assurance, incorporating relevant advancements into Gateley's testing practices.

  • Defining and prioritising testing activities based on project requirements, timelines, and risks, ensuring adequate coverage of functional and non-functional aspects, in conjunction with Project Managers.

  • Overseeing the design, development, and execution of test cases, and scripts, to validate software functionality, performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Leading test resources, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure efficient and effective testing practices.

  • Managing tracking of defects, triage, and resolution processes, working closely with Project and Engineering teams to address issues, and ensuring high-quality outputs.

  • Supporting Project Managers in the planning and execution of testing to enable projects to create all necessary documentation to enable the IT Service team to fully support the solution after the project has concluded.

  • Clearly articulating testing approach and process.

  • Conducting reviews of test execution as part of lessons learned activity to improve testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability across projects.

  • Liaising between business stakeholders, IT team members, 3rd parties, clients and others as required to support delivery of IT solutions for the Gateley business.

  • Communicating in language that is appropriate to the audience.

  • Being aware of and complying with the company's policies and procedures

    The Team
    Gateley Plc has a dynamic and collaborative IT department. We have grown our team to over 60 staff members in total across IT Service, Infrastructure, Architecture, Security, Change Management, Engineering, Innovation and Client Solutions.

    The Solution Delivery team comprises Change Management, Engineering, and Innovation professionals. The majority of the team is based in our Birmingham city centre office.

    The team is responsible for definition and delivery of transformational change across Gateley and IT system / processes improvements, as well as developing client-specific solutions, and managing integrations between systems.
    The Person

    This opportunity would ideally suit an individual from a legal or professional services background. Familiarity with legal software or case management systems would be advantageous but not essential.

    Essential competencies for the role include:
  • ISTQB (BCS) Advanced Test Manager or similar test management qualification

  • Excellent problem analysis, system design, troubleshooting and resolution skills.

  • Knowledge software testing principles, methodologies, and tools

  • Test Planning

  • Requirements gathering

  • Demonstrable experience in working in a role delivering test analysis / Management in an IT change environment.

  • Hands-on experience in test management, planning, and execution.

  • Able to understand business terminology and systems

  • Ability to communicate technical approach to system testing to stakeholders of varying degrees of technical understanding.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and educate others.

  • Attention to detail.

  • 'Can do' attitude.

  • Ability to work on own and be a good team player.

  • Manage deadlines and prioritise work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to build trusted relationships with C-level stakeholders.
