An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Practitioner to join our innovative Community Stroke Rehabilitation /ESD/ Bed based rehab team in Walsall. The Community Stroke Service delivers a high quality service for adults who have survived a stroke., You will be responsible for assisting nursing and therapy staff to deliver a high standard of individualised care to all our patients. Under the direction of a qualified health professional, you will be required to work in an unsupervised capacity, undertaking a varied caseload of specialist rehabilitation treatment programmes, reviews and progress treatments appropriately, to ensure people reach their optimum level of independence.

We are seeking a dynamic enthusiastic, highly motivated, well organised and innovative person to join our multi-professional stroke care team. The Assistant practitioner will work as an integral part of the stroke care team. We are looking for a person with recent experience of working with stroke patients or worked in a community rehabilitation setting and/or have a particular interest in working with this client group. You should possess good interpersonal skills and have a committed, flexible approach to work., The post holder should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and possess NVQ level 3 health or health and social care or equivalent qualification and have evidence of continuing education. Foundation degree in Health Studies (Science)/BTEC National Certificate in Health Studies or equivalent is essential.

You must be keen to learn new skills and have the ability to work autonomously and flexibly as part of the team. Regular support, training and supervision will be given as the Trust is committed to Continuous Professional Development.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children's Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.
