Full Job Description

The BCYP inc. SEND Support Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the ICB can discharge its key purpose:

  • improve outcomes in population health, reduce unwarranted variation with partners

  • Stewardship, prevention and population health improvement

  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access


  • The post is responsible for supporting the implementation of the integrated agenda for the ICS, working closely with partner organisations in the delivery of the key priorities within the children's portfolio. This will include areas such as mental health, long-term conditions, community and acute services. Key to being successful will be the ability to build effective working relationships with our system partners including local authorities, hospital and community services. You will work as part of small team supporting a defined portfolio - you will need to demonstrate the ability to contribute to the overall programme but work autonomously and confidently across the system.,
  • Contribute to the delivery of one or more strategic or project plans, supporting key milestones to be delivered and raising any issues associated with the delivery

  • Can demonstrate and delivery business acumen in their area of responsibility ensuring value for money, understanding the system challenges, identifying risks to delivery and the driving factors for delivery for our system partners

  • Support, facilitate and monitor programmes of work across the portfolio including supporting reporting processes, identifying challenges and understanding when to escalate for resolution

  • Be the key lead on specific projects including co-ordinating and chairing meetings/networks, preparing agendas, ensuring appropriate actions are recorded and then delivered

  • Prepare and report updates to key stakeholders, both internal to the ICB and to our system partners - including developing presentations of complex information and presenting to key groups when required

  • Support opportunities for continous improvement and learning in a financially challenged system

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders


  • This is a part time position - 22.5 hours per week

    We are looking for a motivated individual who has the knowledge and experience of managing workstreams across the system, is adaptable and flexible and able to provide the most appropriate support where required. You must have a passion for improving children and young people's health and care services in mid and south Essex. Experience of babies, children's and young people's health and care services is desirable but not essential.

    Mid and South Essex ICB is a statutory organisation responsible for the planning and delivery of local health and care services, across Mid and South Essex and is part of the wider integrated care system. Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) are partnerships of health and care organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up services and to improve the health of people who live and work in their area. The headquarters for the organisation is Phoenix Court, Basildon, but there is a hybrid model of working, which includes working across Mid and South Essex and home working.
