Full Job Description

1. To contribute to the planning and implementation of the weekly changeover continuous provision (indoors and out) and programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in conjunction with other staff; This involves contributing towards the preparation/delivery of activities and carpet times

2. To develop an ethos in line with the school's 2020 Vision and with our welcoming, family friendly environment

3. To keep timely and accurate records of development, adhering to Little Wellies' methods (the childrens' files, and Tapestry) for key children. This is for both assessment for learning and for parents/carers

4. To keep an up to date record of Tapestry observations and to ensure an equal spread of observations across areas of learning for each child; to strive to use tracking tools on Tapestry to analyse data for key children; to use assessment (drawn from possibly Tapestry) to feed into the planning, including the changeover of continuous provision

5. To use ICT confidently to carry out planning and reports, including adhering to whole school practice i.e. using Google Drive

6. To contribute to the upkeep of key administration systems in the nursery e.g. the early years entitlement paperwork and the online billing system, Nursery in a Box

7. To actively engage in moderation of internal assessments

8. Work alongside parents/carers of special needs children to provide full integration in the Setting

9. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team

10. To be flexible within the working practices of Little Wellies. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs where required, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, assisting with nappy changes and toilet training, supporting children with sleep routines etc

11. To attend regular nursery meetings and to contribute with enthusiasm to the development of practice

12. To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key worker

13. To have a 'lead' responsibility in an agreed area of practice e.g. ICT, Outdoor education, STEM, SEND and to actively drive this forward in line with nursery and Pre-Prep development plans and the school's vision

14. Uphold standards within the setting by adhering to all policies and procedures

15. Uphold standards within the setting by ensuring all required online training is completed

16. To ensure at all times the safety and wellbeing of children in the care of Little Wellies Nursery and Wells Cathedral School and to strive to safeguard children by working to the organisation's safeguarding code of conduct

17. Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members

18. Ensuring all records and documentation are completed accurately, including accident reports, sleep charts, care diaries, and that these are shared with parents

19. To respect the confidentiality of information received

20. To ensure the Setting is of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from different cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development

21. To promote high standards of display in the nursery

22. To be aware of the high profile of Little Wellies and to uphold its standards at all times

23. To actively promote and support the well-being of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring Little Wellies and WCS policies and procedures are observed at all times

    £22,338 - £25,262 a year - Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract, Hours: 40 hours per week, Term time plus 5 weeks


  • Between the hours of 8.00am - 5.00pm weekdays on a rota basis

    Salary: Band B Point 17 to Point 21 (£22,338 - £25,262) pro rata, FTE

    Actual gross salary based on a full academic year (£19,286.28 -
    £21,810.83)

    Responsible to: Nursery Manager

    Main Purpose of Job:

    To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the setting, to give support to other personnel within the setting, to implement the daily routine, to plan suitable activities to extend learning and development and to act as a key-person to a small group of children.
