Full Job Description

You will lead teams developing and leveraging strategic partnerships and conducting business development with a wide range of key stakeholders across UK and international Governments, diverse private sectors spanning water, finance and technology industries as well as a myriad of non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
As an executive director, and member of UKCEH Executive Committee, you will enable UKCEH to deliver even more excellent science and crucially more impact through our work and commercial activities. You will inspire the wider organisation to strive for impact, enter new partnerships and communicate their science with purpose.
Responsibilities of the role

  • Development of highly effective strategic partnerships across the public, private and third sectors domestically and internationally

  • Strategic management of our government relationships to increase our impact and make us even more critical to domestic and international policy

  • Strategic management of commercial and NGO relationships to increase our impact and safeguard our sustainability

  • Oversight of business development within UKCEH. Ensuring we can access and have the capabilities for new opportunities

  • Oversight of the drive for greater commercial opportunities and spinouts, including those delivered through UKCEH Enterprise Leadership of our communications and media handling in support of our wider objectives

  • Strategic leadership of the Partnerships and Impact Directorate and inspiring our 500 scientists to deliver more impact

  • As part of our Exco, being a collegiate member of the senior leadership team and steering the future of the organisation

    The ability to set inspiring strategic visions but ally these with pragmatic plans for delivery

  • A great networker across sectors - able to form and use relationships to great effect

  • Experience of innovation, commercialisation and policy influence at a senior level

  • Strong ability to inspire large organisations and provide direction, energy and pace

  • Proven ability to understand and work with scientists and challenging cultures

  • Ability to drive change in teams, ways of working and cultures

  • Strong delivery ethos, proven ability to get things done

    Salary - circa £100k dependent on skills and experience and more for exceptional candidates

  • Hybrid working (50/50)
