We are actively looking for a Project Engineer to join our engineering team. You will join a talented team within our central engineering group who deliver an array of innovative, exciting and complex initiatives ranging from modifications through to large scale capex projects across the organisation.
Whilst we are already very efficient at separating materials, we also know there is more that could be done to release additional value from the materials that we handle. That is both challenging and interesting; pushing to redefine the boundaries of what is possible for our sector.
Across the UK we operate a network of large scale facilities using a wide range of sizing, densification and separation processes, which include the following techniques: Hammer mills, Rotary shears, Granulators, Raspers, Shears, Balers, Pelletisers, Briquetters, Trommels, Vibrating screens, Magnetic separators, (drum, overband, DSRP), Eddy current separators, Heavy media flotation, Water tables, Vibro sorters, Optical colour sorters, Centrifugal driers, Air separators, Electrostatics,

Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to collaborate with EMR Sites throughout the UK in order to:
1. Identify and develop process design concepts into deliverable projects. Produce detailed:

  • User specifications

  • Process designs.

  • Specifications for plant items.


  • 2. Determine appropriate procurement approach for each project, with respect to complexity, value and risk, and prepare specifications and procurement document documentation as appropriate.
    3. Implementation of engineering solutions to the agreed specification and successful hand over of solutions to plant and operational management.,
  • Definition of user specifications.

  • Production of detailed layout drawings.

  • Design for safety, ease of maintenance and operation.

  • Define performance and general specifications for supply of plant and equipment.

  • Supplier tendering, selection and contracting process.

  • Comparison and analysis of supplier solutions

  • Implementation of engineering solutions.

  • Supplier management.

  • Defining and carrying out performance and acceptance testing.

  • Influential in the successful handover of plant and equipment to the operations team.

  • Problem solving and trouble shooting in support of continuous improvement in the efficiency of the plant and equipment.

  • Mentor/Coaching roles within the Engineering team, to aid the development of the junior members.


  • Key Deliverables:
  • User specifications agreed with relevant internal stakeholders.

  • Detailed designs, specifications and performance requirements necessary for procurement of plant and equipment and installation and construction services

  • Dependant on project size and complexity, work as part of a cross functional PM team, develop process engineering projects delivered to specification, including:

  • Ordering and cost tracking

  • Programme management.

  • Management of multiple suppliers and contractors

  • Performance and acceptance tests


  • As part of the Engineering team develop:
  • Standard working practices and operating instructions for plant and equipment incorporating safe working procedures documented.

  • Preventative maintenance schedules delivered as part of the handover to operations.

  • Spares packages defined, scoped and in place as appropriate.

    At least five years' experience within a process engineering role, with a strong Materials Handling background.

  • Experience in heavy industries such as recycling, mining, quarrying or other mineral processing would be beneficial, but experience in other physical processing industries such as food manufacturing is also relevant.

  • Qualified Engineer

  • Deep knowledge of mechanical engineering principles applied to physical processing, together with good knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • CAD

  • Failure Mode & Effect Analysis

  • Experience of supplier management

  • Experience of supplier contracting and supplier agreements.

  • Experience of managing significant engineering projects in a process / manufacturing environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
