Full Job Description

As the Senior Product Owner you will be assigned systems within the Technology Development or Data and Analytics portfolio.You will be accountable for analysing, prioritising and translating business requirements into technical units of data and analytics work that are implementable by a Scrum Agile development team.

As a Senior Product Owner you will be responsible for but not limited too;

  • Creating and maintaining the product backlog, defining the acceptance criteria, sequencing and prioritisation of stories, ensuring stories are appropriately scoped and that developers have the correct understanding of what is required to be built.

  • Work closely with development team to prioritise product backlog according to business needs and ensure valuable releases

  • Be available and decisive when working with delivery teams as product owner. Help educate them with the best possible information and enable those teams to progress

  • Provide sponsors and stakeholders with visibility of product development progress

  • Communicate product features articulately to confirm the needs of users. Providing the development teams with an accurate understanding of the feature so they can estimate the size of the delivery effort. Resulting in a consistent number of story points being delivered per sprint (Key metric of agile teams).

    Strong previous experience in a Product Manager or Product Owner role in an agile development team

  • Experience with delivering a product in one of the following categories:

  • Successful experience in a dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks, ensuring quality on time to budget

  • Experience or in-depth knowledge of an aspect of the public transport operating business (both operational and non-operational) desirable.

  • Extensive experience and understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation, in a business sector close to the system being developed, preferably within a data warehouse implementation and therefore including data manipulation, and of reporting (essential for D&A area)


  • Experience with delivering a product in one of the following categories:
  • Back office revenue solutions such as payments, rating, master data, data processing, integration

  • Front-end user interface systems such as portals, CRM, mobility platforms

  • Transport specific solutions such as GIS, asset management, rostering/scheduling

  • Data Products including the construction of data warehouse/analytics solution (for roles in Data and Analytics)
