An exciting opening has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the professional education team based at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. The team embodies personal and professional development, and this post will enable you to enhance your knowledge across the education pathways, participate in curriculum development, and projects designed to improve the quality of the learner experience. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered healthcare professional, to work across divisions leading the delivery of the organisation's strategic aims through the development, coordination and delivery of education using a variety of methods. This may include, supporting ongoing professional development of clinical staff and learners across the organisation through the facilitation of virtual and classroom teaching programmes.

The Senior Professional Educator will work closely with the Professional Education Lead contributing to the planning, delivering and development of educational programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued clinical development of nurses, midwives, health care scientists and allied health professionals throughout the organisation. The Senior Professional Educator will support the promotion, co-ordination, provision, management, and quality assurance of multi-professional practice placements across Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.,

  • The Senior Professional Educator will proactively plan, promote and deliver education

  • Working with key stakeholders, develop learning opportunities and education programmes to meet local and national requirements for workforce development.

  • The Senior Professional Educator will be a senior, visible and competent member of the Education, Training and Development Department providing education, audit, governance and advice.

  • Develop and enhance the quality of the practice learning environment to meet the Health Care and Professions Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, Professional and/or voluntary register requirements.

  • Maintain high standards of professional education and delivery of quality training as part of the standards set within the organisation.

  • Facilitate the supervision, assessment and support to all learners in practice.

  • Deliver practice supervisor and assessor training for all Health Care Professionals in accordance with professional regulatory requirements/standards.

  • Develop a learning culture where learners receive quality placements supported by staff, supervisors and assessors from the multi-professional team.

  • Ensure practice supervisors and practice assessors within the clinical/non-clinical area are up to date with professional regulatory standards through continuous monitoring.

  • Manage the educational audits of clinical and non-clinical areas. Recognising, actions and monitoring any areas for development as appropriate.

  • Contribute to managing resources and departmental budget

    Current professional registration with a healthcare regulator ie NMC/HCPC

  • BSc Degree in relevant field or equivalent

  • Evidence of recent CPD

  • Evidence of teaching (formal/informal) experience

  • Mentorship/Supervisor/Assessor qualification/experience

  • Relevant post-registration qualification in education/teaching
