Full Job Description

For a September 2024 start, College's Sports Department is looking to appoint a Sports Professional to be responsible for the coaching of pupils in sport throughout the Senior School and The Prep. Additionally, the Sports Professional will take on the duties of a Support Tutor in a boarding house and undertake boarding duties approximately once every ten working days. This is a term-time only role (33 weeks per annum).

Everyone benefits from our extensive sports facilities and the coaching and support of the Sports Professionals. At Cheltenham College, we have a long history of our staff gaining the highest honours both on the sports field and leading from the side line. As a member of the sports department, you will be working closely alongside, and have mentoring opportunities from the likes of Oliver Morgan, former Gloucester & England Rugby player, College's Director of Rugby, and Gwyn Williams, current Performance Director for Wales's Men's Senior Hockey Programme Manager and College's Director of Hockey.

Experience of coaching netball, tennis/or hockey would be advantageous, and the post-holder should be capable of developing the athletic and sporting capabilities of pupils within College's Talented Athlete Programme.

Under the line management of the Director of Sport, the Sports Professional will also assist in the management of key areas of the busy sports programme, gaining valuable experience in administration, marketing and communications. There may be opportunities for sports professionals to assist in Sport Science lessons and it is encouraged that all sports professionals actively seek to develop their coaching.

The salary will be commensurate with experience (starting at £18,431.45 - based on 0.7 of a full-time starting salary of £25,915.00).

The postholder will also receive an Responsibility Allowance of £1,803 for being a Support Tutor attached to a boarding house
