Full Job Description
Come and join our team: it's an exciting time to be involved in planning England's water resources. Recent droughts have highlighted that water resources are under pressure, and with population growth and climate change affecting water resources, that pressure will increase. Your role will be to help deliver the Government's support package for farmers and growers. This will include helping project manage a scheme for the identification and assessment of Local Resource Options for agriculture, where groups of farmers will be able to apply for funding to undertake investigations into options to help improve the security of their water supplies. In addition, you will project manage agricultural water resources planning projects. The role will involve working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, Defra, Regional Water Resources Groups, the Water for Food Group, Water Abstractor Groups, plus other representatives from the agricultural sector. You will join a national team delivering these projects and will be at the forefront of developing our approach for water resources planning for agriculture. We're a dispersed team and work with a wide range of people across the country both internally and externally. We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel, but some travel and overnight stays may be required. In E&B we promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. You'll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan, so we'll support you to find an incident role to suit your needs and circumstances. Appropriate training will be given. The team You'll join our Water Resources Resilience Team. We lead on developing our National Framework for Water Resources and help water abstractors improve water supply resilience. We're part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate which supports the Environment Agency by using evidence, expertise, and innovation to enhance and enable delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources. We steer the direction, set the priorities, and shape our organisation's approach to deliver environmental outcomes and better regulate.
