Full Job Description

An excitingopportunity has arisen to join the Infant feeding Team, this is a new post ofan Infant Feeding Midwife to work within the Hospital Infant Feeding Team. Thesuccessful applicant will work with and alongside the Infant FeedingCoordinator and Team to ensure the UNICEF BabyFriendly Standards are embedded in routine practice and are maintained withinthe Trust. If you are interestedin supporting mothers / parents within their infant feeding journey, this couldbe the role for you. The successful applicant will respect ALL mothers / parentschoice of feeding, encourage skin to skin contact, close loving relationshipsand enabling mothers / parents to responsively meet their babys needs. Providingevidence-based, mother / parent centered information and supportingindividualised care. Main duties of the job An InfantFeeding Midwife will support the Infant Feeding Coordinator in the day to dayrunning of the Infant Feeding Team and actas a role model through demonstrating evidence-based care in relation to infantfeeding and relationship building. Be a confident and competentautonomous practitioner who practices within the sphere of the Nursing andMidwifery council and NMC guidelines. Act as a mentor to student midwives andother staff and learners / facilitating preceptorship for newly qualifiedmidwives and support the induction of new staff Supporting the Infant feedingCoordinator to : ImproveBreastfeeding rates and meet national targets Provide support,information and advice to mothers / parents Train healthprofessionals Maintain theUNICEF UK, Baby Friendly Initiative Standards Work inclose partnership with the 0-19PHNS. Undertake audits Provide 1 to 1 support or facilitate group sessions, Please refer to the attachedJob Description and Person Specification for full details of the role andresponsibilities.

  • Knowledges of UNICEF BFI
  • Awareness of CNST, ATTAIN, the role of the CQC
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of audit and research
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge in relation to infant feeding practices
  • Qualifications Essential Registered Midwife- Valid NMC registration. Desirable
  • Mentorship Qualification
  • NIPE
  • UNICEF Breastfeeding and Relationship course or equivalent
  • Completion of UNICEF train the trainer course or equivalent
  • Experience Essential
  • Ability to fulfill the Job Description requirements competently.
  • Evidence of on-going professional development
