Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Acute Oncology Administrator at Kingston Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive administrative and secretarial service to the Acute Oncology Team (AOT), working closely with the Lead Nurse and Consultant, who also lead on the Non Specific Symptoms Rapid Diagnostics Pathway (RDCC).

The post holder will liaise with other administrative and clerical teams to ensure that this service is of the highest quality. The post holder will ensure effective and timely communication with patients and members of outside organisations. Assisting the AOS/RDCC team in triaging telephone calls and sign posting patients where required.
1. The post-holder is the main point of contact for Trust staff, GPs, patient and carers following an AOS or RDCC referral
2. The post holder will need to have a good understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, the majority of which are non-routine and which require an intermediate level of theoretical knowledge, acquired either through formal training or equivalent experience
3. The post-holder will provide and receive complex information relating to AOS referrals which requires persuasive skills where the agreement and cooperation of a wide range of Trust staff is required.
4. The post-holder will be required to plan and organise a number of complex activities or programmes which require the formulation and adjustment of plans
5. The post-holder will be responsible for taking/transcribing formal minutes, will regularly use computer software to develop/create reports, documents and drawings and will be responsible for maintaining the AOS and RDCC referrals database
6. The post-holder will be required to participate in undertaking surveys or audits relevant to the work of the department and development of the service it provides
