Full Job Description
As an Administrator - Welfare Assistance, you will be a key part of the Public Health and Communities team, focusing on the Local Welfare Assistance Scheme (LWAS) to support those facing financial hardship in Suffolk.
You will provide administrative support to enable those experiencing financial hardship to access funding. Your primary responsibility will be reviewing applications for support using our internal Case Management System; GOSS. All applications are reviewed and processed in line with the eligibility criteria for the scheme. You will check all supporting evidence provided within the application is accurate and complete, and requesting additional information when this is not the case.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as this role will require you to speak with members of the public directly as well as partner organisations to obtain necessary information about applications.
The LWAS team and role is a fast-paced, constantly changing environment as we continuously adapt our provision to support those most in need in Suffolk. You will have a positive, solution-focussed approach and be able to work well in a team. You will have good time management skills and be able to prioritise daily tasks to ensure all applications are reviewed and processed within our pre-agreed timeframes.
Experience working with vulnerable people and highly confidential information and data would be advantageous, but not essential, for this role, with the successful applicant requiring an enhanced DBS check in order to review and assess applications for financial support.
You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (docx). If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. Even if you don't meet all requirements, still apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
The team
Our team is small but close-knit, and we work very well together. We value a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit to help create a good team atmosphere. The team consists of support operators and a project officer, and we are committed to supporting each other and achieving our goals.
We practice hybrid working, which means you will have the flexibility to work from home and the office. Our office days are usually on Wednesdays.
Empowering Everyone
We're big believers in potential, possibility and the power of different ideas. We're always searching for ways to encourage, respect and enable everyone to be the best they can be. We want to represent the diverse communities we serve. We welcome applications from all individuals, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in the organisation, as shown in our Workforce Equality Report (suffolk.gov.uk).
