Summary
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Here at Leicester City Council, we are passionate about using a strengths based approach to listen and understand what a good life looks like for people who come into contact with us. We have conversations that start with people's own strengths, make connections with families, friends and local communities to achieve the outcomes that matter and improve their wellbeing. When care and support is required, we work with people to find solutions to live their lives as independently as possible.
Join us and you'll find a supportive team and a positive learning culture that supports you to work flexibly and creatively with people. You will enjoy working in a diverse multicultural organisation that's proud to reflect our vibrant city. In an environment that offers plenty of opportunities to develop your expertise, trusts your professional judgement and encourages you to build a rewarding career.
We have full-time, permanent positions working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. With the choice in working either from home or our offices, you'll have the flexibility in working location and hours.
What you'll be doing
No two days are the same, you'll be working with people who come into contact with us to have conversations to discuss what matters to them and others around them. You'll have a can do attitude, a good awareness of the local information and advice that is available and use this to support people and their carers to solutions, drawing on what they already have around them that is working, or could work. You'll work in partnership with others across social care, Health, Probation, and Housing teams.
What you need
Due to the nature of this role you'll need to be registered with Social Work England, hold a valid driving UK licence. Appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
What we can offer you
This role is very rewarding, supporting people to have lives that matter to them and working alongside others who feel the same. You can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy balance between your work life and your personal life. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working.
We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise within a positive supportive learning environment, with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate.
A diverse and inclusive employer
Leicester is a vibrant, multicultural city and we're committed to representing the full range of Leicester's diversity across the council. Why? Because we want to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and confident in being themselves. And by embracing different viewpoints and opinions, we can generate the innovative new ideas and opportunities that will drive our city forward.
That's why diversity, equality and inclusion are part of everything we do. It's why we listen to and engage with all our employee groups and involve them in decision-making. It's why we encourage reverse mentoring, when senior managers are mentored by juniors from different backgrounds. And it's why we work with external partners such as Scope to understand people's needs. Because we're working hard to create a council for everyone.
Join us
We're committed to recruiting a diverse and highly-talented workforce as we continue to build a council that is fitting and representative of our great city. That's why we've designed our recruitment process to put you at your ease, make you feel welcome and bring the best out of you. We'll do all we can to make our recruitment process as fair as possible.
