Full Job Description
We are seeking to recruit an ALS tutor who will support students on a 121 basis or in the classroom to help them achieve their desired qualification. The successful candidate will require knowledge of learning support needs and the ability to give guidance and support to teaching staff to develop further good practice in supporting students with learning difficulties. We require someone with good planning, organisational, administrative and IT skills, including working on data systems such as Pro Solutions and Pro Monitor. We need someone with the ability to inspire and promote independence for further study, preparation for adulthood and empower our learners at Oaklands through appropriate support.
- A Level 5 or 7 qualification in SpLD to assess for Exam Access Arrangements is desirable.
- A qualification in literacy, numeracy Autism, Mental Health, LDD or ESOL is also essential.
- A Teaching qualification is essential (PGCE) or equivalent qualification.
- To have been graded a good or outstanding teacher on 3 consecutive occasions.
- Has passed a Level 2 qualification in English, maths and IT or equivalent College assessment.
- Experience and proven success in providing learning support to students with learning difficulties.
- Experience and flexibility in providing a range of support needs, including 1:1, in class and group support, and ability to differentiate approaches to support.
- Ability to work well with students of all backgrounds.
- Ability to work both collaboratively with colleagues and on their own initiative.
- Flexible and solution-focused approach to work
- Drive and passion to implement curriculum developments. Skills:
- Effective organisational skills (self and workload)
- Extensive knowledge of own subject area
- (In addition to teaching ability) effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with software needed in role.
- Experience of working with people in a learning environment
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to give guidance and support to teaching staff to further good practice in supporting students with learning difficulties.
