Full Job Description

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a full-time, fixed-term Animal Care Technician to join our team until March 2026. In this role, you will support the Animal Care team by facilitating the learning and development of students within the department. The position will also involve covering the school holidays throughout the duration of the contract. If you're passionate about animal care and education, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting tutors and ensuring a well-prepared learning environment. Your responsibilities will include maintaining equipment and resources, overseeing the welfare of the college's animals including during holidays, and upholding biosecurity standards. You will also manage stock levels, handle deliveries, and keep essential records up to date. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organised workspace.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The successful candidate will have experience within the animal care industry and hold (or be willing to undertake) a Manual Handling certificate. Our ideal candidate will have solid experience in animal care, preferably within an educational setting, with a background in caring for small mammals, exotics, and farm animals. You will be a confident communicator and a team player who is highly organised, with strong practical skills and the ability to work independently under pressure. A flair for utilising emerging technologies to support teaching and learning is also essential.

We require an individual who has a full UK driving license and their own vehicle, which they are happy to use to carry out their role. Mileage will be reimbursed
