This post has been funded by the Greater Manchester Regional Research Delivery Network to improve and facilitate recruitment of GMMH service users, their families, carers and staff to high quality mental health research studies on the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Portfolio., The post-holder will work with GMMH research units and clinical teams to maximise participant recruitment to NIHR portfolio studies utilising new and established systems and processes., The post holder will be a key member of the GMMH R&I team, providing ongoing support to established GMMH research units to enable effective recruitment to clinical research studies related to the research units across the GMMH footprint. The post holder will liaise with local clinical teams and study sponsors to support the delivery of study protocols and the service users involved. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that the research undertaken safeguards the well-being of the service users and will have a key role in providing and maintaining appropriate participant-focused environment to facilitate the production of good quality research. Post holders will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process in order to achieve the objectives for this post. Although based at the Central Park (Newton Heath), post holders will be required to work across GMMH clinical services. This role is an excellent development opportunity for someone who is interested in a career in research or clinical psychology.
- Post holder should have : Good general level of education such as NVQ plus additional experience OR Diploma in scientific / healthcare or related discipline Desirable
- Degree in scientific / healthcare or related discipline Experience Essential
- Experience of working in a clinical or service user facing environment
- Experience of reading and interpreting guidance and communicating complex information to others.
- Experience of handling competing demands simultaneously, prioritising work, meeting deadlines and dealing with an unpredictable work pattern. Desirable
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Experience of working in a mental health setting.
- Experience of presenting to groups of people
- Experience of working in research recruitment role. Knowledge Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of laws relevant to research, , Data Protection Act, Mental Capacity Act
- Knowledge of ICH- Good Clinical Practice regulations relating to clinical research
- Knowledge of UK Policy Framework for Health & Social Care Research
- Knowledge and understanding of Research Recruitment. Desirable
- Understanding of Health Research Authority Approval processes. Skills and Abilities Essential
- Enthusiastic and committed
- The ability to develop good working relationships with staff of all disciplines and at all levels to gain confidence of a wide range of professionals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral including the ability to produce reports and develop promotional material etc.
- Specialist knowledge of MS Office Suite - word processing, spreadsheets, databases, publisher, internet and email.
- Ability to work at an appropriate level of autonomy and responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to analyse, manipulate and present data from large datasets.
- Ability to read and interpret guidance and communicate complex information to others.
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work.
- Excellent organisational skills.

- Ability and willingness to travel as there is a requirement to travel to different Trust sites and academic establishments within the Northwest area to attend meetings, to meet with services to promote research, attend venues for conferences, and other activities relevant to this role.
