Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary nurse leader to join us as the Assistant Director of Nursing for Palliative Care & Acute Oncology at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. The successful post holder will work along side the current part-time Assistant Director of Nursing to provide professional nursing leadership and expertise within the service, assist in the development and implementation of the Palliative Care and Acute Oncology services, and contribute to the delivery of the Palliative, End of Life and Bereavement Care Strategy., As the Assistant Director of Nursing for Palliative Care & Acute Oncology you will be responsible for leading and managing the operational nursing function across the service, ensuring that the highest professional standards are maintained at all times. You will work closely with the Consultant Clinical Lead and Head of Operations to facilitate the efficient and effective management of resources within the department., The Assistant Director of Nursing will develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and analysis of health, service and nursing policies, guidance and developments relating to Palliative and End of Life Care and Acute Oncology, for reliance within the Trust, working with other members of the divisional, care group and the departmental senior management teams to translate these into both strategy and action. The successful post holder will provide professional nursing leadership and expertise within the service, acting as a role model for other nursing colleagues. In addition, the post holder will develop and implement innovative and integrated approaches to nursing and service developments and processes, focused on patient need to improve the patient's journey., The Trust is committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance and achieve fair, equitable and consistent practice. Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £23 (standard disclosure) or £43 (enhanced disclosure) will be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment. Bank posts require upfront payment. DBS applications submitted from 2nd December will be subject to the new DBS fee of £26.50 (standard) and £54.50 (Enhanced). From April 2017, Skilled visa applicants and their adult dependant(s) will be required to provide a criminal record certificate from each country they have lived in consecutively for 12 months or more in the past ten years. Applicants requiring sponsorship may wish to determine the likelihood of obtaining sponsorship for this position by assessing themselves against the criteria on the gov.uk website - https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa. All employees (and volunteers)are expected maintain their safeguarding knowledge and skills by completing mandatory safeguarding training which includes understanding and recognising the signs of abuse and neglect and taking appropriate action.   • Registered Nurse current NMC registration
  • Masters Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline, Demonstrable experience of change management
  • Demonstrable evidence of collaborative working and service development
  • Demonstrable experience at senior nurse level (practice, management and/or education)
  • Desirable criteria
  • Research experience, Evidence of staff development
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and service evaluation
  • Understanding and application of healthcare governance, Evidence of effective leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of project management and presentation skills, Committed to delivering high standards of patient care
  • High level of personal and professional credibility, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
