Full Job Description

Full-time, 37 hours per week

Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 5pm

King Edward's is one of Hampshire's leading independent day schools with a mission to operate a forward-thinking, modern IT infrastructure to support over 1,500 staff and pupils at our excellent School. The Assistant Network Manager will work closely with the Head of IT to effectively manage the IT Systems at King Edward VI School, Southampton and King Edward VI Preparatory School, Romsey, to include networking, cybersecurity and cloud services. You will be a member of the IT Support Team and provide efficient and effective technical support in a manner consistent with the School's aims and ethos to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency across our 3 sites. The Assistant Network Manager will take operational responsibility for the development of the School's network systems and infrastructure, under the direction of the Assistant Head (Digital Strategy) and Head of IT.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled IT professional who is up to date with current and emerging trends and best practices with an excellent knowledge of wired and wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs and network security. You will have a deep understanding of Microsoft server and desktop environments, including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP. The selected candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent customer service skills and skilled in a technical IT support role, with experience in managing and supporting network infrastructure (access points, switches, firewalls) and familiar with network monitoring tools and diagnostic software.
