This is a fantastic opportunity to work in the Special Adviser's Private Office as the Assistant Private Secretary and Office Manager. Private Office is a fast-paced environment, and every day is varied, exciting and stretching.

This is an exciting and stretching role with a high level of responsibility and profile across the department and wider government. The successful candidate will contribute to the running of the Special Adviser's (SpAds) office, including commissioning briefing, reviewing submissions, leading on PQs and correspondence, managing HR and security clearances for SpAds.

The role is fast-paced and rewarding, offering regular interaction with SpAds, Secretary of State, senior colleagues and external stakeholders. It would suit someone eager to understand inter-departmental delivery, diligently provide support as part of a close-knit team, and keen for a stretching role to progress their career in the Civil Service.

Once you become a member of our team, we are not only interested in what you can bring to private office, but also our values, including commitments to a collaborative working environment, wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion.

Disability Confident
About Disability Confident
A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer. It is important to note that in certain recruitment situations such as high-volume, seasonal and high-peak times, the employer may wish to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people. For more details please go to Disability Confident.

Please note due to the nature of the role, there is an expectation that candidates will work primarily from 39 Victoria Street. The role attracts a private office allowance of £6,635 on top of base EO salary of £32,469. This is to reflect that out of hours (including evening and weekend) working is sometimes required which is usually organised on a rota basis.
