Applications are invited for the above part-time (60% FTE), temporary post working in the Integrated Research and Impact Support (IRIS) Service. IRIS is the University's Research Office and is responsible for supporting the University's research activities covering pre-award, post-award, knowledge exchange activities and impact, commercialisation and also incorporates the Doctoral School. The team sits within the University's Strategy, Planning & Research Directorate which also has responsibility for strategic projects and partnerships, strategic and business planning, risk assurance, business intelligence, and statutory data returns. The postholder will provide support across a number of functions for a research and impact support team with responsibility for supporting the University-wide repository and providing dedicated support to the Repository, Research Data and Policy Manager. The role will appeal to someone wishing to begin a career in a research support environment but also to individuals who have a keen interest in a career in higher education professional services. Successful candidates will be educated to an AS/A level standard (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate an aptitude for working across a high-volume portfolio, and a genuine interest in supporting researchers to achieve their research outcomes. The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible and the post is available until 30th September 2026. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post. This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through , there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview. Closing date for applications: 06 January 2025 Committed To Equal Opportunities Purpose of the Job As part of the Integrated Research & Impact Support (IRIS) team in, the postholder will provide support across a range of functions within the research and impact support team. The postholder will have responsibility for supporting the management of the University-wide research repository and providing dedicated support to the Repository, Research Data and Policy Manager. The role will involve working with staff in the Colleges, and other professional service areas to support delivery of the University's Research and Impact Strategy. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Repository, Research Data and Policy Manager in relation to repository development and support services for the whole Institution.
- Support and maintain the process for collection, validation and cleaning of output records within the Pure (repository).
- Support to ensure highest levels of Open access compliance, to ensure Research Excellence Framework (REF) eligibility.
- Support the administration of transformative agreements for publications - a route to open access compliance.
- Support the development and maintenance of Pure as a catalogue of research Data holdings - meeting funder expectations.
- Support developments in responsible metrics and policy delivery.
- Support the Repository, Research Data and Policy manager in producing user guides and promotional materials associated with the Repository.
- Support the collection and analysis of data around research outputs.
- Support the development of interoperability between Pure and relevant external systems e.g. the grant reporting database ResearchFish, ORCID and Jisc Publications router.
- Support Repository Research Data and Policy Manager in keeping updated on developments in this domain within the sector and specific system-related developments.
- Develop knowledge of the expertise and specialisms of research groups and research active individuals within the Colleges.
- Provide administrative and operational support for meetings and events relevant to the Research and Impact Support team.
- Provide ad hoc support across the Integrated Research & Impact Support team as the workload distribution requires.
- Support a collaborative approach with key colleagues in Professional Services (e.g. Digital & Library Services) to ensure the operation of seamless business processes and support across all aspects of research outputs activity, specifically including:
- the REF Manager and Senior Planning Officer in the Directorate for Strategy, Planning and Research
- the REF Administrator in in the Directorate for Strategy, Planning and Research Other Duties and Responsibilities
- The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

- 2 AS Levels or 1 A level or NVQ level 4 in a relevant subject area
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) / Higher National Diploma (HND) / Foundation Degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience Desirable
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent), Awareness of the current issues in Higher Education including the policy and funding environment as they relate to research and impact.
- Experience of working in administrative roles in Higher Education.
- Experience of collating and analysing qualitative and quantitative data and information.
- Understanding and experience of providing and delivering customer and/or support service. Desirable
- Experience of working in Higher Education in a research support role.
- Contract administration and project costing experience, preferably in research or Higher Education, Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and engage proactively and effectively with staff and stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise own work and deliver to agreed deadlines.
- Proven ability to adhere to detailed and precise requirements.
- The ability to work as a team player.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent numerical and IT skills (Microsoft Office). Desirable
