Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to gain operational experience within the care group of Complex & Academic Medicine (CAM) supporting Respiratory & Infectious diseases departments. The post will providing support to the head of operations and general service managers in the running of the business. The care group has 5 wards with 113 beds, a dedicated Haematology day case and additional inpatient beds plus community venues within sexual health and haematology. This post will support the deliver clinically led specialists services ensuring the best possible outcome for patients. To achieve this you you work closely with your medical consultants and senior nurses to maintain standards and promote new services. The care group has a large academic portfolio with exposure to exciting and innovative projects with over 100 on going studies. There are close links with the university of Liverpool and School of Tropical Medicine with multiple joint appointments. This role requires a dynamic and motivated individual that can adapt to rapidly changing demands ranging from bed management, business reports and problem solving., Main duties will include;
- managing an administration team and monitoring of both national and local Key Performance Indicators.
- monitor existing operational processes and plans and ensuring that systems and processes are in place and adhered to.
- will assist the team to instigate programmes of work and operational change for their delegated speciality and oversight of budgets.
- day to day operational and line management responsibility within CAM
- will lead/monitor work streams around the achievement of the CIP targets for the speciality/specialities.
- Assist in the delivery of a balanced budget within the care group.
- Line management for responsibility for Operational Support & Office Managers
- provide a visible and accessible presence to all their teams
- Deputising for the General Service Manager
- Report writing and support to the care group for divisional papers.
- HR support within the care group
- work with internal and external stakeholders on improving quality of patient care and services, Reporting to the General Service Manager the post holder will be an integral member of the speciality management team. Responsible for the delivery of operational and administrative services within a service/function/sub-speciality contributing to the achievement of the Care Group Operational Plan. The Assistant Service Manager will monitor operational performance within the speciality advising the General Service Manager, Head of Operations, Clinical Leads and Lead Nurse/AHP as necessary. The post holder will work closely with other specialities within the Division and understand cross cutting work which effects the other Divisions. Specifically, the Assistant Service Manager is accountable for: Assisting with General Service with the delivery of the speciality operational and administrative services. This will include managing an administration team and monitoring of both national and local Key Performance Indicators. The Assistant Service Manager will have experience in overseeing administration teams and will possess personal qualities and skills to deal competently with operational issues. The Assistant Service Manager will monitor existing operational processes and plans and ensuring that systems and processes are in place and adhered to. The Assistant Service Manager will assist the team to instigate programmes of work and operational change for their delegated speciality. The Assistant Service Manager will have oversight of the speciality budgets. The Assistant Service will have day to day operational and line management responsibility for a specific service and/or function within the Speciality. The Assistant Service Manager will lead/monitor work streams within the speciality schemes to contribute to the achievement of the CIP target for the speciality/specialities The Assistant Service Manager has line management responsibility for Operational Support Managers The Assistant Service Manager will provide a visible and accessible presence to all their teams, The Trust is committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance and achieve fair, equitable and consistent practice. - Educated to degree level or equivalent
