Our Mental Health East team consists of AMHPs, Senior Social Workers, Social workers, Senior Social Care assistants, Social Care Assistants and administrative staff. We are a supportive and friendly team, with a wealth of Mental Health knowledge and experience which is shared within the team, where there is a strong emphasis on learning and development which is promoted via regular supervision and team reflection sessions. We strive to support each other, as well as the residents we work with. About the Role As the Assistant Team Manager you will be able to demonstrate both the skill and ability to manage and support the day-to-day running of a busy and dynamic Mental Health social care team, prioritising daily challenges effectively. You will be confident in making sound practice decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs and emergencies that arise in the community. In this role you will develop effective partnership relationships with individuals, carers and families and positive relationships with external stakeholders. Supporting the Team Manager to deliver high quality personalised adult social care, with a clear strength-based agenda will be an important part of your role, as will your responsibility for verifying assessments and authorising when appropriate. You will be supervising both qualified and unqualified staff; managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that they are followed through as appropriate. Shortlisting criteria

You must have significant post qualification experience and be able to demonstrate good understanding of the mental health and recovery agenda. A key component of the role is developing staff practice and therefore applicants must be able demonstrate evidence of providing effective professional supervision to less experienced colleagues within a social care setting. To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your CV and personal statement will need to evidence the following:

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, assessment, preparation of care plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes
  • Significant post qualification experience and some management experience, including experience in a social care setting
  • Evidence of providing effective professional supervision to AMHPs and less experienced colleagues
  • Professional qualification in social work and registered with the relevant registration authority
  • Confidence in making sound decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs
  • Ability to prioritise daily challenges and expectations
  • Ability to develop effective partnership relationships with individuals and professionals
  • Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.

    The starting salary for this role is £52,942 per annum, working 36 hours per week. We are excited to be offering a Secondment opportunity for an Assistant Team Manager to join our Mental Health East Team, for an initial period of 6 months. The team is based at Woodhatch Place in Reigate and supports residents across the local boroughs of Tandridge, Redhill, Merstham, Reigate, Horley and Banstead. Rewards and benefits
