Full Job Description
Teachers will be involved in all aspects of Pre-Sessional provision, either online or face-to-face (including the planning and delivery of classes, student feedback and support) and will be expected to teach 15 hours per week online or 20-hours per week face-to-face and attend weekly staff meetings and development sessions. Teachers must commit for the entire duration of the course.
Applicants must have a first degree and a CELTA (or equivalent).
A DELTA (or equivalent), and/or a Master's degree in a cognate subject (e.g. TESOL, Applied Linguistics) is highly desirable.
You should have significant experience in EFL and/or EAP with experience of developing/adapting teaching materials to ensure alignment with programme learning outcomes.
You should have experience of conducting and marking formative and summative assessments, and of providing high quality feedback to students. You should also have the ability to complete teaching-related administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
You should be competent and confident in your use of ICT and learning technologies.
In order to teach on the online PEP, you will require access to the following equipment:
A computer/laptop
Headset with microphone
Webcam
Reliable, fast broadband
Qualifications
Essential:
First degree (any discipline) or equivalent relevant experience
A recognised TEFL qualification (CELTA or equivalent)
Desirable:
Diploma in English Language Teaching for Adults (DELTA) (or equivalent)
TEAP qualification
Master's degree in a cognate subject (e.g. TESOL, Applied Linguistics)
Department
Educational Linguistics is an academic subject area, which is currently located in Library, Learning and Student Services (LLSS), although, as a result of recent re-structuring, the subject area will be relocating during the summer to the School of Professional Business Education, which is in the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL).
In addition to the Pre-sessional English Programmes (PEP), Educational Linguistics delivers undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, including the MA TESOL and BA International Education top-up. Educational Linguistics also runs Insessional EAP Taught sessions, workshops and tutorials catering for International Students as part of the UON Language Development Centre (LDC)., Disability Confident
