Join the Flu Biopharmaceutical Development (Flu-BPD) group, a multi-disciplinary scientific function providing expertise in Virology, Process Development, and Analytical Development. The Analytical Testing Team is a dynamic function with a strong focus on science and technology, accountable for analytical testing, cell culture, and providing troubleshooting expertise on a variety of assays. As an Associate Scientist, you will play a crucial role in our team, contributing to the department's research and development goals. With a minimum of a Life Science degree and preferably a Life Science Master's degree, you will bring your practical laboratory experience and excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills to the forefront. Once fully trained, you will perform your duties with minimal direction and deliver against tight deadlines., Perform routine testing and cell culture to support the Flu-BPD department for seasonal vaccine strain development activities and other research projects.
Conduct non-routine testing for research and continuous improvement projects under the guidance of a more experienced scientist.
Make detailed observations, analyse data, and interpret results.
Present findings at internal meetings and support the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
Ensure activities align with site business objectives and meet required standards regarding documentation, good housekeeping, SHE, timekeeping, budgets, and regulatory legislation.
Maintain laboratory housekeeping, conduct self-inspections, manage stock control, re-order schedules, and communicate with key suppliers.
Ensure laboratory documentation of results are accurate and timely. Assist in the review and approval of laboratory documentation.
To have a minimum of a life science degree, preferably based on virology, microbiology, or molecular biology.
Practical laboratory work experience within a research, academia, contract testing, or biopharmaceutical setting.
Knowledge of GLP manufacturing and/or laboratory practices and quality systems.
Ability to prioritize workload in order to work to tight timelines.
Desirables:
Practical laboratory experience of mammalian tissue culture.
Practical laboratory experience of cell-based assays.
Knowledge of influenza virus and/or other RNA viruses.
