Full Job Description
Sweco has an award-winning portfolio of UK and international projects, demonstrating a broad range of experience in delivering leading-edge, sustainable structural engineering consultancy services. Our ethos is based on close working relationships with like-minded clients and design professionals. We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Associate Structural Engineer to join our successful Structures team in London. What does the role involve? As an Associate Structural Engineer, you'll set a leading example providing leadership on technical quality to the team in the area of Civil and Structural Engineering, Consultancy and Reporting. Providing project direction to ensure technical quality, health and safety management, budget control and timely delivery. This will include providing clients with solid technical advice within the limits of the brief and being responsible for the delivery of a high-quality service. Undertaking contract management on all delegated schemes, you'll liaise with clients and their representatives and attend design and site meetings. You'll prepare design solutions and manage the preparation of design calculations and drawings in accordance with the relevant design codes as well as preparation of the specification, technical information and reports. Other aspects of the role will include managing the costs and revenues on projects, complying with CDM regulations, keeping abreast of technical developments in the industry and training and mentoring less experienced Engineers., Sweco UK&I have an internal resourcing team who are responsible for all recruiting activity. We have a Preferred Supplier List of trusted agencies who we work with on those "hard to fill" roles. We have defined processes for recruitment applications and it is company policy not to accept speculative CVs. Any speculative CVs received into the business (whether to a manager or member of the resourcing team) will become the property of Sweco and the agency will not be eligible for an introductory fee. Our Preferred Supplier List was reviewed in November 2024 and we are not looking to add any additional agencies. We'll be reviewing the PSL again at the end of 2025 and non-compliance with the above statements could be detrimental to you having the opportunity to be included. Our Talent Community for experienced professionals is a great way to keep up to date with our latest news, insights, future vacancies, as well as gaining access to exclusive events hosted by our experts.
- Be a qualified Civil or Structural Engineer, chartered or near chartered with the Institute of Structural Engineers.
- Have considerable experience in a comparable role with a bias towards technical leadership and outstanding design communication.
- Have excellent design skills and be able to competently undertake computer-based analysis and have knowledge and understanding of UK codes of practice, Design Standards, Building Regulations and Health and Safety.
- Be market facing, commercially focused and a positive role model. What's in it for you? You'll experience an inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop. A meaningful job where you'll help to transform society by being a trusted consultant to our clients. If you believe you have the skill set required to be our next Associate Structural Engineer and are keen to join a business with genuine opportunities for career progression, then we'd love to hear from you.
