We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an ASW Asst Team Manager/Practice Manager, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., The Deputy Team Manager - Social Worker will play a key leadership role within Southwark Adult Social Care OPPD, supporting the Team Manager in the provision of high-quality social work and occupational therapy services. This role requires providing supervision, professional guidance, and oversight to Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and other team members, ensuring that services remain person-centred, strength-based, and compliant with statutory requirements. Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Support the Team Manager in delivering a safe and effective service, providing professional supervision and performance management for Social Workers and other professionals. Mentor new staff, oversee ASYE and student placements, and support professional development.
- Case Management & Risk Assessment: Manage a cohort of complex cases, ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). Provide oversight of high-risk or high-profile assessments and interventions.
- Service Delivery & Performance Monitoring: Ensure timely work allocation, manage waiting lists, and conduct weekly performance monitoring to meet statutory responsibilities. Work collaboratively to develop and implement best practices.
- Inter-Agency Collaboration: Promote cohesive working relationships with health services, housing, voluntary agencies, and other partner organisations to enhance service provision.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: Ensure safeguarding is a key priority, supporting investigations of abuse and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Work England. - Post-qualification training or an advanced award in a relevant field (desirable). Essential:
- Significant experience in adult social care, working with older people and individuals with physical disabilities.
- Strong background in complex case management, safeguarding investigations, and risk assessments.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring staff within a social care setting.
- Working knowledge of Social Care legislation, including the Care Act 2014.
