Full Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our remarkable and dynamic Cytology team. This role is part of a team which provides an efficient and effective Histology service to two general hospitals (Southend University/Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital Trusts) and local GP community. You will be expected to prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing, within operating procedures and protocols. You will need to work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times under the supervision of Associate Practitioners. Applicants must currently have permission to work in the UK.,
- Be able to rotate through areas of Pathology as required (dependent on experience and training), performing all designated duties in accordance with local working practices whilst maintaining high personal standards and conforming to Health and Safety regulations.
- Provide general advice and assistance to users of the pathology service. For example, advice on test availability and the courier service.
- Prepare samples for routine investigations, working on own initiative to agreed protocols.
- Propose changes to standard operating procedures as required, in order to develop and streamline the service or to reflect other changes. Propose changes to set task list for daily duties.
