We are looking for a dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our experienced, optimistic and inclusive team to be part of theAlternative Provision Specialist Taskforce (APST)supporting better outcomes for identified young people with SEMH presenting with communication needs. The AP Specialist Taskforce programme aims to support the complex needs of pupils in COBS by providing specialist support, drawn from a range of sectors, on site. Which is a fantastic chance to work alongside Therapeutic Practitioners, Youth Workers, Substance misuse workers, Family Support Workers, YOT Prevention Workers and liaise with the Youth Offending Team where appropriate. The post is being offered5 days a week Term Time only but there can be some flexibility around this so please contact us to discuss. · Negotiating with multi-disciplinary team colleagues and carers with reference to case management of complex cases including instigating appropriate referrals as appropriate · Using specialist knowledge to inform clinical judgments and decision making for highly complex cases including decisions to discharge · Undertaking differential diagnosis of cases and contribute to overall decision-making for complex clients with a range of disorders as part of a team approach · Recognition of professional boundaries and the ability to sign-post to other professionals where appropriate, including complex safeguarding situations · An ability to engage well in clinical supervision to discuss a wide range of cases with a solution-focused approach · Offering training and upskilling school staff at a Universal, Targeted, and Specialist level · Having a neuro-affirming, non-judgemental approach to communication with children, colleagues, and families It's an exciting time for the Children's SLT service: · It's our 2nd year of delivering an integrated SLT service within a Balanced System framework. We're working in partnership with families, the Local Authority, individual schools and a wide range of stakeholders to deliver interventions at Universal, Targeted and Specialist levels for both Early Years and School-age populations · We have an experienced team committed to taking NQPs through preceptor-ship & a culture of ongoing learning and clinical supervision. · We have strong links with Universities and a commitment to student education · We offer a supportive working environment with access to specialist clinical support, and an emphasis on sharing good practice through effective team working. · For further information about our department follow the link below: http://www.bhamcommunity.nhs.uk/childrens-slt See JD for detail, key duties include:
- Contributing to discussions around setting the direction for the service including foreseeing risks and opportunities. Linking in with regional & national colleagues via networks to benchmark best practice, build professional networks and bring practice back to the service to contribute to service planning within the specialist area.
- Reviewing and interpreting research evidence relevant to specialist area and contributing to discussions on how to implement findings to the benefit of the service in line with service priorities.
- Supporting the Professional Leads and Service Clinical Manager in the development and implementation of an appropriate training programme for members of the team across the locality, using information from appraisals and personal development plans
- Taking a role in the local implementation and monitoring of clinical supervision/ practice support systems in line with relevant policies and procedures.
- Assisting the Service Clinical Manager and Professional Leads in the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff, as required.
- Participating in the development of clinical protocols for use within the Service.
