Band 8a Deputy Programme Manager - NIHR HealthTech Research Centre

An exciting opportunity to join the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Devices, Digital and Robotics (NIIHR HRC-DDR), part of Research Development and Innovation at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The HRC-DDR is a research infrastructure funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR), supporting safe, effective and efficient translation of new healthcare technologies into routine care for patients. Our research themes of Medical Devices, Digital & Data Technologies, Robots & Autonomous Systems, and cross-cutting themes of Human Factors & Usability, Health Economics & Value Proposition, and Regulations, cover areas of unmet need in the translation of health and social care technologies., We are looking to appoint a motivated Deputy Programme Manager to provide professional research management and leadership to oversee the delivery of the programme objectives. The post holder is required to work using their own initiative on a regular basis and manage their own workload; this will require excellent planning and organisational skills. The post-holder is expected to have line management experience and must be able to communicate information to a range of stakeholders in a range of formats to support and maintain strong relations with local, regional and national structures. Using their own judgment the post holder will be able to prioritise their workload effectively, demonstrate clear attention to detail and problem solve as necessary., The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate and provide programme management and leadership to the NIHR HRC-DDR. This will involve close working relationships with key stakeholders, industry and clinical and academic staff. The post holder will specifically provide programme management support to the Director of the HRC, the HRC Programme Manager, Theme Leads, in addition to regional partners. They will support the achievement of the programme objectives and ensure that required reporting processes are adhered to. The post holder will work closely with the finance and governance teams within the Research Development & Innovation department to provide operational and financial support to the programme. The post holder will also work alongside research theme leads, portfolio manager and project research officers to ensure well-informed, coherent and co-ordinated delivery of HRC communications, research inclusion, patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) and training strategies
to deliver overarching programme objectives.

The NIHR HRC-DDR are part of the national NIHR HRC Network, hosted by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The NIHR HRC-DDR are leading the Workforce Development workstream of the network. The post holder will be responsible for leading NIHR HRC-DDR's involvement and engagement in national NIHR HRC Network activities and initiatives.
