Full Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals and empowering them to achieve independence? Or do you have lived experience of overcoming challenges such as addiction, homelessness, rough sleeping, or mental health issues? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Bed Navigator to join our existing Emergency Beds team. Working a shift part of 5pm-8pm Monday-Friday. Occasional Saturdays 8-4pm .
As a Bed Navigator, you will play a crucial role in providing flexible, person-centred support to individuals in various locations, helping them to maintain independence, access essential services, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Objectives:
+ Support Clients: Work with individuals facing challenges such as housing instability, financial management, and accessing healthcare.
+ Collaborate with Services: Liaise with housing providers, social services, and other organisations to provide comprehensive support.
+ Adapt to Needs: Travel between locations and provide tailored support based on each client's situation.
+ Empower Independence: Equip clients with the skills and resources needed for sustainable independence.

+ Flexible Working options, As part of this role, you will engage with individuals who are referred into Emergency Beds across a number of sites within Birmingham. You will provide essential support in navigating clients through the emergency bed service and assist them back into the community within a 28-day period. Access to a car is desirable as the role involves travel between locations. Travel expenses for work-related travel will be reimbursed.
You will also be responsible for working closely with the Housing Management team, DWP, and HB to ensure rent and service charge payments are processed. Outreach duties are required to build relationships with individuals on the streets and support SWEP initiatives. Participation in rough sleeper counts and the annual rough sleeper snapshot count is also part of the role.
Some cleaning duties will be required to prepare void rooms for letting.

+ Experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly those experiencing homelessness, addiction, rough sleeping, poor mental health, or offending, or having lived experience
+ A non-judgmental attitude and an ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies.
+ A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to navigate complex situations.
+ Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
+ Knowledge of housing and welfare systems is desirable.
