Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Business Compliance Enforcement Officer to join our team. We are seeking a positive, experienced, enthusiastic, talented and driven professional who cares about the development of our great city to join our busy, high performing, forward thinking team. We are a team that deals with a wide range of building control projects, from domestic extensions and conversions to large-scale commercial and public developments. We pride ourselves on providing a high-quality, customer-focused, and cost-effective service that ensures the safety and quality of buildings in our area. We also work closely with other departments and agencies to promote sustainable development, energy efficiency, accessibility, and fire safety.What is the job role? This is a newly formed role within the City Councils Building Control team. Due to the new regime, we would like support in ensuring that are meeting the requirements stipulated by the Operational Standards Rules, maintaining the quality management system and any other duties that may be required to contribute to the delivery of our Building Control service. You will have the opportunity to contribute to developing and improving the Building Control service, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.

  • Able to receive and record information accurately and write responses to complaints.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to impart information clearly and sensitively.
  • Able to interpret and present data in report format where required.
  • Well organised with the ability to follow quality procedures, having an accurate and methodical approach to work.
  • Be proficient in the use of ICT packages.
  • Able to demonstrate flexible approach to work patterns and systems, working effectively as part of a time or on own initiative.
  • Confident and assertive with the ability to take appropriate action.
