Full Job Description

As part of an exciting transformation in the Eastern Region Commercial Directorate, we are looking for talented individuals to join our growing team and work alongside a range of business units and across a varied and large portfolio. In the Buyer role, you will purchase goods and services in line with company governance & procedures., · Assist in the procurement of higher value and more complex commodities. · Provision of dedicated support to senior staff in procurement functions. · Target specific goods, services and/or suppliers to identify how tangible improvements may be made in the procurement of these goods and services. · Responsible for the keeping of records to aid the production of periodical reports, and maintain evidence of procurement activities · Undertake full range of procurement activities including obtaining supplier prices, tendering negotiation and purchase order placement.

· Commercial experience and aptitude. · Understanding of procurement processes. Desirable · Knowledge of procurement and competition legislation, procurement procedures, processes, systems and controls. · Membership or training for qualifications in relevant professional institution. · Positive and proactive attitude and willingness to learn · Team player · Organised and methodical, Keeping people safe on the railway is at the heart of everything we do, safe behaviour is therefore a requirement of working for Network Rail.
