Full Job Description

We are keen to hear from enthusiastic, highly self-motivated individuals who are interested in joining this specialist registration team.
You will need to use your judgement in the interrogation of multiple data sources containing clinical and administrative data to derive a patient cancer registration in adherence to international clinical coding rules, national standards, and quality requirements.
The successful candidate will be required to complete the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Professional Practitioners Diploma for Cancer Registration Officers qualification within 2 years. The training programme is made up of on-the-job blended learning components with assessments throughout. Although full training is provided, experience in clinical coding and medical terminology would be beneficial.

The Welsh Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit (WCISU) is the national centre for population-based cancer health intelligence. It is part of the wider Data, Knowledge and Research Directorate Public Health Wales with a key role to create the population-based national cancer registry for Wales.
The quality assured cancer registry population dataset created by a specialist registration team underpins the WCISU first class reputation for its cancer health intelligence outputs, benefiting all stakeholders within the cancer community in Wales, UK and internationally. This valued dataset also contributes to selected trusted research environments to expand research opportunities to wider population health analytics., Please be advised that there is a temporary top-up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed., To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route. Non UK / RoI candidates wishing to apply should self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship by visiting Work in the UK. The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.
In general, anyone joining our Trust who has not previously worked in the NHS will, by default, start on the first point of the advertised pay band. Pay progression will then be determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews in accordance with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy. An application for Incremental Credit may be considered, but can only be awarded based on evidenced, reckonable service and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
