Full Job Description
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who ideally has category D1 status on their licence. You will drive adapted vehicles with tail lift access and be responsible for vehicle and passenger safety. Our services supports adults with complex learning disabilities and autism by providing meaningful opportunities and activities. We pride ourselves in offering a person-centred service that promotes the wellbeing and independence of the people we support. Induction, supervision, and full training will be provided. A pre-employment health assessment and an enhanced DBS check will be required.Main Responsibility In this role you will be supported on the vehicle by another team member who will act as an escort, you will be responsible for the safe collection and return home of the people we support and/or providing a driver for our residential services on occasions for community outings. You will be expected to work as part of the care team and use your own initiative. We offer diverse and varied work experiences, with no day being the same. Some of the tasks you may undertake include:
- Vehicle safety checks, including wheelchairs
- The role may require you to carry out manual handling tasks to support clients in their day to day lives.
What you will bring - Enthusiasm about working with vulnerable people and are caring, sensitive, and patient.
- Willingness and physically able to support people with personal and intimate care needs and physically able to undertake manual handling tasks. What you will have
- A caring nature.
- D1 driver's license preferred.
- Experience of working in a team.
- Practical knowledge of health and safety for vehicles and providing transport.
- Effective communication skills.
