Full Job Description

Action Cerebral Palsy is seeking a Trustee who is interested in improving the intervention, care, education and support available for children and young people with cerebral palsy and their families in the UK. This is a voluntary role for a 3 year period.

Action Cerebral Palsy is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (registered charity number 1165217).

Founded in 2013 as a consortium before becoming a charity in 2016, Action Cerebral Palsy has worked to improve public, professional and political awareness of cerebral palsy and the issues facing children and young people with CP along with their families. The Charity does not provide any hands-on or virtual service and all staff work remotely. Action Cerebral Palsy's trustees have diverse professional backgrounds, and all have direct professional or lived experience supporting children with cerebral palsy and their families.

The Trustees are responsible for managing the affairs of Action Cerebral Palsy. One of the Trustees serves voluntarily as Treasurer and Company Secretary and a chair is appointed at each Board meeting.

All trustees must be able to demonstrate values such as honesty and integrity and must be committed to Action Cerebral Palsy's aims and values. Trustees must have skills, and personal or professional knowledge and experience relevant to Action Cerebral Palsy's charitable aims. There are four full board meetings held each year which are mainly now held virtually via Zoom on a weekday evening and which last 1.5 hours each. We understand that each trustee may not be able to attend all meetings, but we ask that they read all papers and correspondence and provide feedback to the Executive and Chair if they are unable to attend. The Chief Executive circulates the agenda and papers in advance of each meeting.
