Full Job Description
Are you an experienced child-centred practitioner with knowledge of attendance and the willingness to support children and young people back into accessing education? We are seeking a Children Missing in Education (CME) Reintegration Support Officer to join the Team Around the School and Setting (TASS), part of the innovative Education Division of Children's Services. The focus of the role is to process and monitor referral systems, track and evaluative systems including data for children at risk or missing from education (CME) and Children in Entertainment and Employment (CEE). The CME Officer role will be key in maintaining and updating a comprehensive list of children who are not on the roll of a school/alternative provision and liaising with partner agencies to ensure that such children have appropriate support packages in place. The role provides a point of contact for parents to increase parental confidence, reduce anxiety, and support successful inclusion back into mainstream settings. The key function of this role is to:
- Support the Local Authority in meeting its duties with regard to the provision of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those missing in education.
- Support the Statutory Attendance Intervention Lead around Children Missing Education and Children in Entertainment and Employment.
- Liaise with other local authorities, contribute to meetings within the Education Division and develop links with external agencies and the independent sector regarding tracking missing or at risk of missing pupils.
- Undertake assessments of children and young people who do not have a school place, acting as a lead professional and co-ordinating multiagency support packages as appropriate.
- Line manage the CME RIG Support Assistant As part of a team of experienced staff, you will work alongside professionals to draw up and deliver bespoke packages of support. This will involve mentoring the pupil, as well as working with the family and school to establish positive, effective working relationships, which will lead to improved educational outcomes.
- Assessing individual needs and monitoring progress against desired outcomes
- Applying a wide range of approaches to work with children and families, including those with SEND
- Ensuring that all work delivered to settings is in line with the wider aspirations of the Education Division and exploits opportunities for integrated working with partners at every opportunity.
- Identifying work priorities and managing your own workload to meet deadlines
- Communicating complex information clearly and confidently, orally and in writing, to a range of audiences
