St Barnabas is a large and vibrant charismatic evangelical church, with a very multicultural membership and a vision for the people of North London to encounter Jesus, become like Him, and change the world. We are seeking an experienced person to lead our children's and young families' ministry in this new season of church life. Could it be you? There is an Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 for the post holder to be a committed Christian. Safer recruiting pre-employment checks will include an enhanced DBS check and relevant training. This role is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check. Leadership and oversight of teams

  • Recruit, disciple and equip teams of volunteers for all our children's and young families' ministries areas
  • Oversee (leading as required) all Sunday and midweek children's and young families' ministries and grow and develop them in this new season
  • Assist in overseeing (leading as required) children's and young families' outreach initiatives e.g., Messy Church
  • Use your knowledge to lead and train others in best practice in teaching, including in the provision for children with additional needs
  • Work with local primary schools, developing good relationships with their senior staff
  • Work with the clergy in planning and leading seasonal and all age services
  • Introduce new children's and young families' initiatives within the life of St Barnabas
  • Champion the needs and concerns of children and young families at St Barnabas and beyond
  • Work with the St Barnabas team of churches as appropriate (currently Church@Five, Families Church, Oakleigh Community Church and Faith House) to help them provide high quality children's and young families' ministry
  • Disciple making
  • Helping children and young families encounter Jesus through the Holy Spirit
  • Teaching children and young families the good news of Jesus Christ
  • Enabling children to be the "church of today" through using the gifts and skills that God has given them
  • Encouraging and demonstrating the empowering of children and young families to live an intentionally missional lifestyle
  • Encouraging and modelling the reaching out to children and young families who don't yet know Jesus, drawing them into God's family
  • Use your excellent knowledge of children's emotional, cognitive and spiritual development to disciple, teach and care
  • Support parents/carers in discipling their children and in pastoral care
  • Disciple the children, and the adults in your teams
  • Experience of working with children and the Church in the UK

    Developing warm and caring relationships with children and their families, creating a sense of belonging
  • Being a good listener, supporter and disciple making partner to parents and children
  • Helping children to form friendships with each other that will sustain them as they enter youth
  • Be an encourager, calling out children's gifts and helping them to grow in confidence
  • Treating children and young families with the love, grace and kindness of Jesus
  • Being a mentor and role model - showing children how to love one another and God and demonstrating this to your volunteers and the young families
  • Being excited about working with children and families of diverse backgrounds
  • Working alongside the pastoral team and clergy to provide pastoral care to children and their families, Inspirational, collaborative, pro-active leadership skills
  • Committed to personal discipleship and growth in the Christian faith
  • Ability to plan and implement Children's and young families' vision and strategy
  • Ability to identify, train and release leaders and servers in children's and young families' ministry
  • Experience in church children's and young families' ministry or a suitable equivalent
  • Skill in dealing with and understanding of a broad range of pastoral issues
  • Good team player and delegator with excellent interpersonal/communication skills
