Full Job Description

This role will support the clinical team byassessing all medical documents that enter the practice. Duties can include but are not limited to screeningall incoming medical letters, filing these to the clinical record, entering keydata and forwarding appropriate information to clinical teams as appropriate., Clinical coders are responsible for : -

  • Monitor and review all incoming correspondence through Docman and code appropriately using SNOMED CT codes, highlighting and forwarding any actions to clinical and non-clinical staff members.
  • Amend filing and coding errors as and when necessary.
  • Ongoing tidying of patients medical records.
  • Summarise patient paper notes into electronic record when required.
  • Scan patient-related documents onto Docman, ensuring all appropriate information regarding the document is recorded.
  • Ensure incoming letters are scanned onto the patient record within a timely manner.
  • Monitoring EMIS Documents inbox and actioning as appropriate.
  • Monitoring the OOH inbox and actioning as appropriate., Other Tasks :
  • Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors / windows / alarm.
  • Providing holiday cover for colleagues.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers

    Essential
  • 1) Experience of working in a clinical coding environment.
  • 2) Experience of working in an administrative office environment.
  • 3) Flexible approach to undertaking a wide variety of tasks.
  • 4) Must be able to travel between the five sites.
  • Desirable
  • 1) Knowledge of clinical IT systems and coding.
  • 2) Working in Primary Care / NHS / Clinical environment.
