Full Job Description
We are pleased to be recruiting to a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic surgery and Endometriosis at the Centre for Endometriosis & Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (CEMIG) at Ashford & St Peters NHS Foundation Trust. CEMIG has a national and international reputation as a highly regarded BSGE Endometriosis Centre with a track record of high quality care and academic output. Numerous previous fellowship post-holders have gone on to become Consultants working in Endometriosis Centres and advanced laparoscopic surgery. The post-holder would work alongside the existing team of three Consultant Gynaecologists, ATSM Deanery Fellow, Endometriosis Specialist Nurse and a wider team of colorectal and urological surgeons. Core responsibilities would include attendance at regular theatres, pelvic pain clinics and Endometriosis MDT. It is expected that the post-holder contributes to Quality Improvement projects and to the wider academic output of the team including work submitted to National and International programmes including the ASMs for BSGE and ESGE. The role also includes contribution to all duties on the middle grade O&G rota and candidates must be ST4+ equivalent as per the RCOG training matrix., This is an ideal opportunity for a post-membership (MRCOG) Gynaecology trainee with a serious interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery to gain further experience, particularly in advanced endometriosis surgery. The successful candidate will have already proven their interest in the field and would have some practical experience in performing intermediate level laparoscopic Gynaecological surgery. The successful candidate is expected to assume a leading role in service improvement projects, audit and research activities within CEMIG. It is expected that every year the team will present at least one high quality project at the BSGE annual scientific meeting and another at ESGE or AAGL conferences. Therefore evidence of contribution to Quality Improvement, Research or other academic involvement is essential. The role will also include supervising and performing regular audits of practice and assisting in development and updating of patient information documents.
