East London Foundation Trust is looking for a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist (OT), with at considerable post registration experience of working for adults with learning disabilities to join the Newham Health Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities (NHLD). We are a health team working primarily with individuals with severe - profound and multiple learning disabilities and people with moderate learning disabilities and complex needs.

This position is a Clinical Lead, Occupational Therapist post. It will appeal to an Occupational Therapist who would like to combine their learning disability clinical experience and expertise with their leadership skills. This is a full time role, based in Stratford, London close to tube, rail and DLR stations.

You will lead an established, skilled and motivated Occupational Therapy Team, which is part of the multi-disciplinary team composed of Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists/Behaviours Specialists and Psychiatrists. As the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be involved in clinical governance and service development, supervising the OT team members.

The Occcupational Therapy Team offers effective services, focusing on ensuring that the people they work with are able to engage in and participate in activities of daily living. The OT team has embraced innovative practice in relation to sensory work and functional assessment to ensure people are able to take part in activities that increase their independence and wellbeing. The OTs work with people and their supporters in a variety of places - people's homes, the community, day centres and educational settings.

You will have previous experience of working with people who have learning disabilities, previous involvement in service development and leadership, and a sound understanding of the legal frameworks relevant to people with learning disabilities. You will hold a clinical caseload, to be autonomous in carrying out assessment, intervention and evaluation of your OT work and to provide support and clinical and managerial supervision for the Occupational Therapy Team.

You will receive supervision and support from the Deputy Team Manager and Clinical Service Manager. We will offer a friendly work environment, a broad range of clinical experience, clinical supervision, internal and external training sessions, and support for CPD and career development.
