Full Job Description

Clinical Research Associate (Fellow) (Fixed Term)

Applications are open for a Clinical Research Associate/Fellow position to work on a mechanistic clinical trial of a novel immunomodulatory therapy in patients with cardiovascular involvement in rheumatological disease, using non-invasive multi-modality cardiovascular imaging and immune profiling.

You will be based at the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute (VPD-HLRI) at the University of Cambridge, with research undertaken at the VPD-HLRI, Cambridge University, and Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Our research is at the forefront of the field, connecting ground-breaking discovery science with cutting-edge clinical and experimental medicine trials in a collaborative and innovative research environment. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wishes to undertake a dedicated period of research training and contribute to an exciting and ambitious research programme.

Candidates at different stages of clinical training are welcome to apply but they will ideally have an interest in sub-specialty training in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging or cardio-rheumatology. Previous experience in clinical or wet lab-based research is desirable. Candidates must be medically qualified clinical trainees (pre-CCT) who are registered or eligible to register with the GMC in the UK. Successful applicants will be able to pursue a higher degree with the University (MD or PhD) as part of their research training.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 21 months in the first instance.

This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.

This is an integrated appointment between the University and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Clinical Contract by the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.

Please ensure that you upload a covering letter, CV and a completed Additional Information for Clinical Researchers form in the Upload section of the online application. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.

Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.

  • Closing date: 13th April 2025

  • Interview date: To be confirmed

  • Please quote reference RC45556 on your application and in any correspondence about this vacancy.
