Full Job Description

A exciting opportunity has come up within the Occupational Therapy Team in Gloucester! The new post holder will:

  • Provide specialist breadth and depth of skills and knowledge to deliver evidence based occupational therapy assessment and treatment to service users with complex learning disabilities
  • Work as a key member of a specialist multidisciplinary service contributing expert knowledge and outcomes of assessments to support the creation of specialist intervention plans to manage complex needs including behaviours that challenge others
  • Provide consultancy and advice, and training to support primary and secondary health care professionals, social care providers and carers to enable them to better meet the health needs of service users
  • Research, develop and share current best practice to optimise the service users ability to engage with their environment in line with principles of social inclusion and / or recovery
  • Support the continuous practice development as a member of the leadership group in the occupational therapy workforce, The LDISS Team provide a specialist countywide service for people with a Learning disability whose challenging behaviour is causing significant impact on the individual and their family or the services supporting them.
  • The team works closely with relevant carers, organisations, agencies and with CLDT and inpatient provisions.
  • LDISS is available 7 days a week and is delivered in relevant settings to meet service user needs
  • The inpatient services provide specialist assessment and intervention on a short term basis for those who require additional support and whose needs cannot be managed within their home environment.
  • The job role spans both LDISS and inpatient services and delivery into each service will be based on priority need.
