Full Job Description

This post offers a unique challenge for a highly motivated and experienced expert Occupational Therapist with proven clinical experience, excellent communication skills and passion to support Occupational Therapy service development at our hospital. This is a clinical site-based role supported by the Clinical Leads, Head of Therapies and peer support via our network of Clinical Leads across Barts Health. Main duties of the job The post holder will hold a clinical case load and be responsible the development of Occupational Therapy service delivery, supporting further development of a high-quality service across acuate inpatient care. Essential

  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience within an acute hospital setting
  • Experience of managing, training senior and junior staff, students and assistants
  • Operational management experience in a fast paced, clinically complex environment
  • Experience of supporting complex patient discharge from hospital to community
  • Experience of successfully leading and implementing a range of service improvement and change projects
  • Working across group and leading projects relevant to OT profession / service
  • Experience in involvement of recruitment process
  • Experience of using research & other evidence to inform & drive practice
  • Significant experience in multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of proactively engaging with service users, carers and community partners
  • Experience of leading clinical governance initiatives
  • Skills Essential
  • Ability to take a senior clinical leadership role within a dynamic MDT
  • Ability to understand complex issues, problem solve and propose positive solutions
  • Ability to effectively promote hospital flow and expedite timely discharge into community
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences
  • Decisive, using sound judgement in decision making in a timely and confident manner
  • Excellent time management with advanced skills in prioritisation, organisation and delegation
  • Reflective practioner with high self-awareness, understanding own emotions, strengths and limitations
  • Committed to the continuous development of staff and self, and promotion of profession
  • Competent IT skills
  • Qualifications Essential
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Attendance at post graduate courses / training relevant to clinical specialty
  • Leadership & management training
  • Awareness of professional practice issues and NHS Developments relevant to Occupational therapy
  • Comprehensive understanding of the pillars of clinical governance
  • Knowledge of government policy in relation to flow & effective discharge
  • Other Essential
