Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Older Peoples Care Unit Community Mental Health Speech and Language Therapy Service for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. This post is for 18.75 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be joining a growing and supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists already working in the community and elsewhere within inpatient Mental Health and will benefit from supervision support, active encouragement to access CPD, training and development opportunities

The post will be supported by the Senior and Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and the care unit AHP Lead.

The successful applicant will work across a range of community mental health teams with service users, their families, carers and wider MDT to provide clinical and professional expertise in order that those with speech, language and communication needs and/or dysphagia needs benefit from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective speech and language therapy service.

The successful applicant will manage a caseload of both routine and complex cases, provide specialist individual assessment, management, training, advice and liaison through consultative and coaching approaches, as appropriate.

SLTs work as part of the wider multi- disciplinary team providing high quality, effective, accessible, person cantered care through tailored packages of care in the most appropriate setting, often the client's home.
