Community Nursery Nurse

The role of Community Nursery Nurse is vital to the delivery of the Healthy child Programme in the Newcastle Hospitals 0-19 service.

You will work directly under the supervision of the Health visiting Team, but be expected to work autonomously and manage your own diary.

We work with other agencies and health professionals including GP's, Community Family Hubs and Social Care.

This role includes working with complex and vulnerable children and families, you will be expected to raise any concerns following local and national guidance and policy, full safeguarding training will be given.

Comprehensive record keeping is an essential part of the role, good IT skills will support with this and specific training will be given.

We deliver the Healthy child Programme in both home and clinic settings. You will also support families with specific issues such as feeding support, weight reviews, sleep and behavioural difficulties.

You will also support families who have children with additional needs.

You will be expected to drive across the city to various venues to deliver this service.

We offer a full training programme, with a 6 month probation period and comprehensive induction programme. Following this you will have regular supervision with your line manager.

You will be issued with your own laptop, mobile phone and lone working device to support your safety and give you the opportunity to work as an agile practitioner when agreed with your line manager.

We are currently seeking experienced Nursery Nurses with good clinical and communication skills to join the 0-19 Health Visiting service in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The post holder will join our forward thinking, integrated workforce supporting the delivery of the Healthy child Programme to improve outcomes for children, young people and families living in Newcastle upon Tyne.

We are looking for motivated professionals who have the ability to work independently and as part of a skill mixed team. You should have excellent knowledge of child development and experience of working with children in a variety of settings, whilst making a valuable contribution to the assessment and monitoring of child development, offering family support and advice on parenting and to facilitate health promotion sessions.

You will have good communication skills, be a team player and be organised to work effectively with health colleagues and other agencies.

Access to a vehicle and possession of a full driving licence is essential.
