Full Job Description

We are seeking Community Staff Nurses with good clinical and communication skills to join the 0-19 Health Visiting service in Newcastle upon Tyne. Post 1 PermanentPost 2 Fixed Term from 04/08/2025 to 03/08/2026 This is a post suitable for a qualified NMC registered nurse who wishes to develop and extend in their skills and knowledge working within the community setting. The post holder will join our forward thinking, integrated workforce supporting the delivery of the Healthy child Programme to improve outcomes for children, young people and families living in Newcastle upon Tyne. We are looking for motivated professionals who can work independently and as part of a skill mixed team. Offering full/part time working hours within this role. Access to a vehicle and possession of a full driving licence is essential.

  • You will be redirected to Trac to apply for the vacancy. Please expand the job details section and read all of the information before applying for the vacancy., The role of Community Staff Nurse is vital to the delivery of the Healthy child Programme in the Newcastle Hospitals 0-19 service.
  • You will work directly under the supervision of the Health Visiting Team but be expected to work autonomously and manage your own diary. We deliver the Healthy Child Programme in both home and clinic settings. We work with other agencies and health professionals including GP's, Community Family Hubs and Social Care. This role includes working with complex and vulnerable children and families offering Early Help support and working within the safeguarding arena. You will be expected to raise any concerns following local and national guidance and policy, full safeguarding training will be given. Comprehensive record keeping is an essential part of the role, good IT skills will support with this, and specific training will be given. You will also support families with specific issues such as feeding support, weight reviews, sleep and behavioural difficulties. You will also support families who have children with additional needs. You will be expected to drive across the city to various venues to deliver this service. You will have access to regular supervision with your line manager. You will be issued with your own laptop, mobile phone and lone working device to support your safety and give you the opportunity to work as an agile practitioner when agreed with your line manager.

    Our staff oversee over 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites

    o Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site) o Newcastle Dental Hospital o Newcastle Fertility Centre o Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria o Northern Genetics Service o Cramlington Manor Walks These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS. We also have offices at Regent Point in Gosforth and community sites.
