Full Job Description

This post offers the successful applicants the opportunity to practise Gynaecological-Oncology at MFT.The initial job plan consists of 10PAs. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team and develop our service. Previous experience at consultant level is not essential. Great care has been taken to ensure that there is appropriate access to professional development opportunities.

The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of the Gynaecological Oncology service with a particular interest in vulval disease., To support and complement the Gynaecological-Oncology services provided by MFT

To take a leading role in improving the quality of services in MFT.

To take clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of women under their care, both when outpatients and inpatients, and provide cover for women under the care of other consultant colleagues as required.

To deliver outpatient clinics as agreed on the job plan.

To deliver operative treatment in theatre lists.

To participate in the consultant rota patterns for the daytime and out of hours working, as outlined in the job plan.

To undertake the necessary administrative work relating to the post.

To be responsible for the supervision and training of junior staff and undergraduate students in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and to actively participate in clinical teaching and training of the wider multidisciplinary team.

To take an active role in Clinical Governance, and lead and participate in audit projects relevant to clinical care.

To promote research and academic activity within the department.

To attend Trust and Departmental induction and complete all mandatory training.

At present posts are basedat Oxford Road and Wythenshawe Hospitals sites. As the SMH MCS service evolves, working may be required at other sites within the Trust and successful candidate must be willing to be flexible in this regard.

The healthcare landscape in Manchester is evolving and the SMH MCS is one of the biggest providers of gynaecological care in the UK. The successful applicant will participate in the Gynaecology out of hours rota. The frequency of this is 1 in 7 at ORC site Category A, with on call band-5% as well as delivering elective outpatient and inpatient care. The successful applicant will work across the sites of the SMH MCS., MFT is one of the largest NHS Trust In England with a turnover of £2.6bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
