The newly appointed consultants will provide general neurology services including: outpatient clinics; ward rounds; consultations on other wards and the associate administrative duties. This may include the provision of satellite clinics. A special interest in neurophysiology would be preferred, however other areas would be considered where they complement existing services. Applications from exclusive neurophysiologists are also encouraged., The appointed consultant(s) will:

• Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of Neurology and Neurophysiology.
• Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
• Provide professional supervision and management of resident medical staff.
• Be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at the fortnightly Consultant/Directorate meetings and regular consultant away days.
• Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all Consultants), carried out by the Clinical Director. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
• Active involvement in audit.
• Involvement in research - Joint research projects are undertaken with both the University of Teesside (University of the Year 2009) and Durham University and involvement in the further development of research links.
• Continuing professional development.
• Any other duties which may be required.
