Full Job Description

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in theWorthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, includingin-patient care and community living well services. Joinour innovative and enthusiastic multiprofessional team and help deliver our visionfor palliative care in our locality. StBarnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing,Adur, Arun and Henfield areas of West Sussex. You will join thesenior medical team providing consultant medical input to clinical services.You will rotate between community and inpatient focused roles developing anddelivering services across our four pillars of care : Community servicesincluding Hospice at Home and heart failure and respiratory specific services; our 10 bed inpatient unit; the Living Well service for patients with lowerintensity needs; and our Care to Care pillar through which we support ourhealth and social care partners to deliver palliative care to our community. Main duties of the job We are a research-active hospice recruiting to portfoliostudies and generating original research. We have an extensive undergraduate and postgraduate education programmeand provide placements for both Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicinetrainees from the London / Kent Surrey Sussex Deanery.   • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following :
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
  • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
  • MRCP, MRCGP, FRCA, FRCR or equivalent(s)
  • Desirable
  • Further postgraduate qualification, MSc, MA, PhD
  • Formal training in teaching techniques
  • Formal training in research Good Clinical Practice
  • Experience Essential
  • Recent palliative care experience and breadth of awareness of palliative care issues
  • Knowledge of evidence- based practice
  • Experience of teaching in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Knowledge of research methodology
  • Desirable
  • Further postgraduate qualification, MSc, MA, PhD

  • A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel frequently throughout the working day across the catchment area for the hospice.

    St Barnabas House is based in Goring by Sea, witheasy access to the beach and is commutable from Brighton and the surrounding countryside.
  • The second on call commitment (currently 1 in 6) is part of place- based rotacovering palliative care services in the local area. Applicants must be fully registered and licensedwith the GMC and on the Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine or have a completionof training date no more than 6 months after interview., Anenhanced DBS will be sought, if you are successful in this role.
